M. I. A. Recovery Network accepts donations for both members and Donors. Members are typically families of the missing from any war, but anyone can join. Families of the missing may join for $1.00, which gives them lifetime membership. Families are the core constituents of the organization and their voice and interests are what will drive our operations and future projects. Members are entitled to a voice in the goals of the organization and representation before the Department of Defense agency (DPAA) responsible for recovery of the Missing in Action of all wars. The membership fee also includes a basic investigation for information regarding MIA in question. Much of this information is available through public sources, but some may have to come from archival resources which are available to us. Complex cases may require visits to the National Archives and Records Administration, in which case we will notify members of the issues involved.
Member Benefits-The Search Process
Members essentially are partners with MIA Recovery Network in searching for information on their relative by providing us with basic information such as full name, service branch, rate or rank, and theater of operations.
We begin our search with that information from primary sources such as the American Battle Monuments Commission, Infantry After Action reports, Morning Reports, Missing Aircrew Reports, Mission Summaries, Luftwaffe Claims Reports, the USAAF Combat Chronology series, and the more than 19,000 Individual Deceased Personnel Files of the missing we have in data storage. Another resource we is a collection of structured data from World War II which we can sort and filter for specific information.
Once basic information is assembled, we can pursue the case with the Defense POW-MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) at our monthly conference call with the DPAA leadership.
Donors who wish to support the work of MIA Recovery Network may offer any amount donation at any time. The suggested minimum is $25.00, but any amount is accepted.
